Wanderers v. Cavalry (June 19, 2019)

Once more unto the breach, dear friends, once more; or close the wall up with our English dead. In peace there’s nothing so becomes a man as modest stillness and humility: but when the blast of war blows in our ears, then imitate the action of the tiger….

Of course, for all that, it went quite well for Henry, as indeed it did for old Bill, who made quite the rep amping up relatively routine events with flourish and florid verse, as was his wont. If only he’d had liveblogs.

Wanderers cannot likely conquer France today; but they might break the siege put on the rest of the league by Tommy Wheeldon Jr.’s Cavalry. A win for Wanderers tightens the standings considerably and even if Halifax seems headed for near-certain defeat in the end, you just never know with these things. Drama, as always, awaits.

As usual, things will kick-off properly here at 6:30pm with all the pre-battle rituals, like me trying to track down who’s actually playing. Only because it’s 2019, you can tweet the blog, too, using the hashtag #HFXCAVlive which adds a whole new dimension to war-time correspondence.
