There’s news off the top this week, with Forge assistant coach Peter Reynders being suspended for 45 days by Canada Soccer for racial abuse in the Voyageur’s Cup.
A year ago, Terran Campbell was an obscure prospect you only knew about if you were a hard-core Voyageur or really into Canadian Football Manager sims. Now he’s leading the Canadian Premier League in scoring.
Today is a day of celebrations: Peter Schaale going back to school, Cavalry in the Voyageur’s Cup semi-final with a chance, Forge beating Antigua in CONCACAF.
I actually like long road trips–they’re a part of sports if not always the traditional, European model of soccer–and they add some structure to the season. Unfortunately, Wanderers’ last was not very good. They’re now winless in the league for four games–six in all competitions–with a couple blowouts there at the end as the minds and legs went.
