Pacific were never actually that bad in 2019. That’s a surprise, because they started the season with a bare minimum roster of mostly Whitecaps cast-offs.
Tiki-taka has never had a home in northern Alberta. It must be something about the climate, the culture, or the city relative to, say, Barcelona, that just prevents entertaining football.
I dreaded writing this one. Valour fans should probably dread reading it. Because boy, were there some lows this season for Valour. There weren’t many highs, either, but neither was the whole quite so bad as it sometimes seemed.
Cavalry were built to be a prime example of the Canadian Premier League, day one. And they were.
No team in the Canadian Premier League has received as much coverage for what’s happening off the field–in a good way–than Halifax Wanderers FC. No team has received less coverage about what’s happening on the field, which is a pity, because this team is legitimately fascinating.
It’s awards week. Everyone and their favourite pundit has an MVP pick and a Best XI. But they’re all so similar! Where’s the fun?
There were a million ways this whole endeavour could have failed even in year one. That it not only survived but succeeded is nothing short of a Canadian soccer miracle.
