Mostly, I try to sleep through February. But this is a brave new world: soccer in Canada. Transfer drama! (At least, transfer drama if you count Marco Bustos to Pacific, which I do.)
Right. I’ve been off for a while, and so was the Canadian Premier League for most of the first part of January 2020. Some relatively minor stuff happened before Christmas, but it wasn’t until this week things started moving.
Tiki-taka has never had a home in northern Alberta. It must be something about the climate, the culture, or the city relative to, say, Barcelona, that just prevents entertaining football.
I dreaded writing this one. Valour fans should probably dread reading it. Because boy, were there some lows this season for Valour. There weren’t many highs, either, but neither was the whole quite so bad as it sometimes seemed.
Cavalry were built to be a prime example of the Canadian Premier League, day one. And they were.
No team in the Canadian Premier League has received as much coverage for what’s happening off the field–in a good way–than Halifax Wanderers FC. No team has received less coverage about what’s happening on the field, which is a pity, because this team is legitimately fascinating.
