No Wanderers, No Problem: Week 8 in CanPL
We’re back after a slow cup-centric week with a boatload of Canadian Premier League action. But it doesn’t involve Wanderers–boo!

Is it week six? Seven? Already? Nobody actually seems to know–I missed Week Three just because, and CanPL.ca is putting out Week 5 content, so every number is fair game.
Is this thing already over? For the record, I don’t think Cavalry have won the spring season yet–too many road games ahead–but they’re definitely close.
Originally, I was going to keep this brief because, y’know, if Wanderers aren’t playing did anything really happen?
I’ve always liked midweek games. Apparently I’m the only one–attendance is regularly brutal at these the world over, and the Canadian Premier League is no exception. Forge drew nearly 6,000 on Wednesday before getting rained on Saturday, which actually isn’t bad at all, but boy does it look rough in a 27,000-seat stadium. Cavalry drew only 2,055.
CanPL teams generally do not have the depth, with 23-man rosters, to play back threes very often. So fans of that formation should treasure this past weekend, where we saw them from everyone!
Well, that was fun.
It’s finally here–week 1 in CanPL. Here’s a preview of the weekend ahead for Halifax and the other three teams involved.
Kit launches are less important than player signings, I don’t care what the readership stats say. Fortunately, seems like Wanderers understand this, dropping two signings to distract from the shiny shirts.
Halifax Wanderers have now signed all three of their picks from November’s USPORTs draft. Peter Schaale and André Bona, of Cape Breton and UQAM respectively, will suit up in the Canadian Premier League this year.
