2020 was likely to be a rebuilding year for Wanderers, but the short tournament and lots of university depth means they’ll at least see what they have.

In addition to signing Cory Bent this week, Halifax Wanderers also released Jake Ruby, their 14th overall pick in the 2019 USPORTs draft. That’s as may be, but it reveals the massive hole in the USPORTs draft system.
Unless you’re in Ottawa, the 2020 Canadian Premier League offseason is more or less complete. Let’s look at where each teams stands and ask what needs to come out pre-season.
Mostly, I try to sleep through February. But this is a brave new world: soccer in Canada. Transfer drama! (At least, transfer drama if you count Marco Bustos to Pacific, which I do.)
Right. I’ve been off for a while, and so was the Canadian Premier League for most of the first part of January 2020. Some relatively minor stuff happened before Christmas, but it wasn’t until this week things started moving.
The Canadian Premier League needs a footprint in the GTA’s outer communities. There’s no way around that.
Pacific were never actually that bad in 2019. That’s a surprise, because they started the season with a bare minimum roster of mostly Whitecaps cast-offs.
